Why APVB? The Atlanta Performance Way
“A Different Path”
The world of youth and junior sports, especially volleyball, is quickly becoming a race to the bottom in terms of excess. Too much spending, too much travel, too much useless competition on hard, unforgiving plastic floors, and too much overuse at the expense of destroying the bodies of the young athletes that don’t yet have the physical strength or power to withstand too much play.
At Atlanta Performance Volleyball, our #1 and ONLY mission is to give our athletes the training environment, the fundamentals, and the opportunity to develop an “elite” level skill set that can lead them on the path to becoming an elite player. There is no “ELITE PLAYER” without first developing “ELITE SKILLS”. No amount of travel or competition will give you elite skills if you haven’t first put in the time to develop those skills.
At Atlanta Performance Volleyball, we refer to “training” rather than just “practice” to identify the systematic approach that follows the path towards greatness. Our players spend the vast majority of their time on skill development, rather than game play. They are involved in year-round lifting & pre-habilitation to allow their bodies to not only recover from training, but also to continue to get stronger and more powerful. Even the playing surface at the APVB gym is a double layer of 1/2” plywood that sits on thousands of pieces of rubber to provide the softest playing surface possible. Our goal is to develop “great players” first, and from there we can work towards having great teams. When “great teams” are the #1 priority, then the individual player always loses!
